It's also more flexible from a design standpoint since it can be powder coated in virtually any color and shaped into modern or traditional profiles depending on what the project calls for.

Steel sits between iron and aluminum in terms of weight and cost. It's common in commercial applications and industrial-style residential projects. Like iron, it needs proper coating to resist corrosion, but it's easier to work with for complex custom designs.

Cable systems are a popular choice when the goal is an open, minimal feel, particularly in newer construction or renovated open-concept homes. The frames are typically aluminum or steel, and the look works well in both interior and exterior applications. On balconies and hillside properties, cable rail is especially common because it keeps the sight lines clear without sacrificing safety.

What Changes When Interior and Exterior Connect
